Good evening, Salem.

City fire crews responded on Monday afternoon to a vegetation fire at the intersection of Northeast Portland Road and Northeast Hyacinth Street.

The one-alarm fire is now contained, according to Brian Carrara, Deputy Chief of Administrative Services.

The Salem Police Department has asked drivers to find alternative routes.

In other news, we had a great time talking to many of you at the Salem Saturday Market over the weekend and hearing your thoughts on the city’s proposal to tax local workers to pay for police, fire and homeless services.
