Good morning, Salem.

For over a year, Salem City Councilors have said they want a non-police option to respond to residents having mental health crises. But city efforts to stand up a mobile crisis unit have been stuck in planning stages due to a lack of funding.

Now, Marion County is planning to stand up its own crisis team program, which would serve most of the city of Salem. We’ve got details below on what’s happening and how the new effort would work.

And our team will continue to monitor election results today and keep you updated on local and state races.

You can find all of our stories anytime by heading to our website.
