Man dead in crash on NE Hollywood Drive

An early-morning crash Tuesday killed one person shut down traffic for much of the day on Northeast Hollywood Drive.

Around 5 a.m., a mid-size sedan collided with a mid-size sports utility vehicle in the intersection of Northeast San Francisco and Hollywood Drive, Salem police said Tuesday afternoon.

The crash killed one occupant of the vehicles, 46-year-old Keith Alan Schmidtke.

Northeast Hollywood Drive was closed between Northeast Snowberry Street and Silverton Road until about 10:30 a.m. A small section of Northeast Studio Court remained closed until 4:45 p.m., police said.

Police said another person was transported to a hospital following the two-car crash.
