Good morning, Salem.

Utility costs, especially electricity have skyrocketed in recent years. But in 2026, you get a small reprieve from the typical Jan. 1 rate hikes.

A new state law means most larger utility companies can’t raise rates until April, when the winter heating season is over. That means Portland General Electric, Pacific Power and NW Natural rates aren’t going up – yet, at least. And Salem Electric is also waiting until April to raise their prices.
