Good evening, Salem.

Salem got a little bit of thunder, lighting and rain late Thursday afternoon. The rainy weather is likely to continue tomorrow throughout the day with a slight chance of another thunderstorm in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

If you’re not scared of a bit of wet, the city of Salem has two unique outdoor events happening Friday.

From 1-4 p.m., join staff with the Clean Streams Initiative for a four-mile biking tour of Salem’s water treatment facility at Geren Island. The course is flat and family-friendly, though riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Sign up here and meet at 2700 E. Santiam St. in Stayton.

On Friday evening, parks and recreation staff will lead a dusk walk at Minto Brown Island Park starting at 6:30 p.m. The program is for kids age 9-12 with parents or guardians. The cost is $10 per participant and sign-ups are here.
