Two people were threatened near the 300 block of Northeast 47th Avenue, in North Lancaster, by three armed suspects who then left the area, according to a statement from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Police stopped a vehicle the suspects were riding in about 3 miles away in northeast Salem, near the intersection of Northeast 25th Street and Northeast Claxter Road. One person fled on foot, and police used a K9 dog to find and detain them.

A search of the vehicle turned up a Ruger handgun reported stolen from Montana and a Taurus revolver.

Two 18-year-old men were arrested, booked into the Marion County Jail and charged with menacing and unlawful use of a weapon. One of the two was also charged with unlawfully possessing a firearm, having previously been barred from doing so by a juvenile court, according to court records.

A 16-year-old boy was also lodged at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center.

The sheriff’s office asked anyone with information to contact Marion County’s non-emergency line at (503) 588-5032 and reference case number 25-25852, or text TIPMCSO and their tip to 847411.
