Marion County sees requests for immigration enforcement amid statewide surge

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office received most of the federal requests for help on immigration enforcement among local agencies over the last year, a new report shows.
Between June 2025 and May 2026, federal agencies requested the sheriff’s office’s assistance 29 times.
The report, published by the state’s Criminal Justice Commission, documented a total of 329 requests made to law enforcement statewide. That’s a significant increase from 95 reported in the same period last year.
