Pentacle selling off props, costumes – and a lifeguard station

The Pentacle Theatre is staging a show of a different kind on Saturday – a rummage sale to clear out costumes, props and other artifacts.
The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, in the lobby of the theater. The theater is off Oregon Highway 22 in West Salem, at 324 52nd Ave. N.W.
A bit of a treasure hunt is in store for shoppers, who can buy with cash or credit cards.
“They can find unique things at a great price that they won’t find anywhere else,” said Karen McCarty, who is organizing the sale as chair of the theater’s costume committee.
One item is a lifeguard station used in a recent play. A like-new bunk bed is also for sale.
“We have lots and lots of props,” McCarty said.
That includes dishes, glassware and furniture.
Costumes are going too.
“We just have too many fur coats,” she said.
She said those with a creative flare can find the makings for their own costumes for Halloween or other events.
But don’t count on finding complete ensembles.
“We would not have a suit of armor,” she said.
Two years ago, the theater held a sale of just costumes.
“We had lots of people. We sold a lot of stuff,” McCarty said.
The sale clears the Pentacle of overstocked props and items no longer needed. Proceeds go into the theater’s operating fund.
“Everything is priced to sell,” she said. “We are really inexpensive.”
