Portland & Western Railroad has some of the worst vehicle crossings in Salem, especially from Salem Industrial Drive, Cherry Ave and Pine St to downtown. I’ve reported them to the number on the crossing as well to ODOT Rail over the last couple of years but nothing has been done.
I’m a regular at that dog park for a few years now, we go almost daily now. I was at the dog park when this happened and a friend who left suddenly came back, told me what happened. While 1 hour blocking is rare, long blocks do happen more frequent than not. I’ve sat there and watched them move things more towards Salem and then not dropping anything, move it back.
