Woman, 71, killed in North Lancaster house fire

A 71-year-old Salem woman died in a house fire Wednesday in the North Lancaster area, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said.

Firefighters arrived at a home in the 4700 block of Northeast Oak Park Drive around 12:30 p.m. and found the home “fully engulfed,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement Wednesday evening.

The deceased woman, Lesa Lemons, was the sole occupant of the home, sheriff’s office spokesman Sgt. Jeremy Schwab said. He said he didn’t have information available about where in the home she was located.

Marion County property records list her as the home’s owner.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but does not appear suspicious, the statement said.

Marion County Fire District #1 and the Oregon State Fire Marshal assisted with the investigation.
