Elsinore Theatre lights up downtown Salem with recreated iconic sign 

A new 23-foot sign lit up Elsinore Theatre Friday night, illuminating downtown Salem for the first time in over 60 years. 

Theater leaders unveiled the new blade sign in a Friday event, after hiding it behind a canvas since Aug. 12. The sign is a replica of the one that was torn off in a 1962 Columbus Day storm that caused widespread damage throughout Salem.
