COLUMN: Barred owl killing plan moves ahead in Oregon

The federal program to kill barred owls in California, Oregon and Washington is expanding. It has just been learned that the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has turned to the U.S. Department of Agriculture for assistance. That agency’s Wildlife Services program already kills feral pigs, wolves and coyotes. Now barred owls are on their target list. Crater Laker and the national forests that border the Willamette Valley are included in the plan.
