Homeownership to become reality for dozens of Salem families as housing authority sells old properties

Through selling some of its obsolete properties at a discount and demolishing others, the Salem Housing Authority hopes to give dozens of local low-income families a chance to own their own home.

On July 14, the housing authority’s board, which is made up of Salem city councilors, approved a plan to sell 79 of its properties at a below-market rate.
