City says canceling Avelo contract would cost $1.2 million

Salem city councilors on Monday will discuss the million-dollar fallout that would likely come if Salem cancelled its two contracts with the budget airline in response to pressure from activists concerned about deportation flights. 

A city report showed that cancelling its contracts with Avelo prematurely would likely cost the city at least $1.2 million on top of damages the city may be liable to pay the airline.
