Keizer man gets 6 years for sexually abusing 5-year-old in West Salem

A Polk County Circuit Court judge sentenced a Keizer man last Thursday to 75 months in prison for sexually abusing a five-year-old child in West Salem.
James M. Madden, 46, pleaded guilty on April 17 in Polk County Circuit Court to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
Pro Tem Judge Timothy R. Park also sentenced Madden to 45 months of post-prison supervision and ordered that he register as a sex offender upon his release.
The Polk County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release Tuesday that the victim was “under Madden’s care” at the time of the abuse but did not elaborate.
The abuse occurred between August 2023 and March 2024, according to court records.
Madden was arrested on Sept. 22, 2024 at the Portland International Airport as he was trying to flee the country and was booked into the Polk County Jail, the news release said.
He was previously convicted by a military court of possessing child pornography in 2019 and required to register as a sex offender, according to District Attorney Aaron Felton.
