What to do in Salem from April 17-23: Easter egg hunts, chaotic standup, dance party

Here’s a roundup for the week from Thursday, April 17, to Wednesday, April 23.

Easter events
Earlier this week, Salem Reporter published a roundup of Easter events taking place around Salem this weekend. Most of the events on the list will be free to participate in or attend.
There will be egg hunts, bounce houses and Easter Bunny photos starting Friday. Take a look at the list here.
Chaos comedy
Friday, April 18: A night of stand-up comedy at Infinity Room will be thrown into chaos during each performance. When a comedian takes to the stage, their stand-up routine will be “subjected to an element of chaos” that will throw the show “off the rails,” according to the event description.
Stand-up performers interested in being a part of “Chaos Comedy” can email [email protected] before the end of the day April 17. The show will start at 7 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $11.75 online and $12 at the door. The show is 18+ only. Infinity Room is located at 210 Liberty St. S.E. #150.
Pachanga at Xicha Brewing
*Friday, April 18: Xicha Brewing North is hosting an all-ages dance party with live music from Jaime Talavera and the band Pachanga. The event is free to attend, and donations to support Make Music Salem are welcome. Xicha will have food and drink available for purchase. Xicha Brewing North is located at 2195 Hyacinth N.E. Earth Day event
*Saturday, April 19: Celebrate Earth Day at Fircrest Park and “help the earth be a little more beautiful,” by pitching in to remove invasive species, a Facebook post from Salem Neighborhood Services said. The Southwest Association of Neighbors is leading the event Saturday which will focus on removing ivy and Blackberry bushes.
The Earth Day event will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and volunteers should meet at Fircrest Park, 1000 Lauradel Ave. S. Those interested in participating can email [email protected] for more information.
A silent film with live music
Monday, April 21: Salem Cinema will show the 1925 silent film, “Phantom of the Opera,” accompanied by live music from The Invisible Czars, who have created a soundtrack featuring violin, electric guitar, piano and more. The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $18. Salem Cinema is located at 1127 Broadway St. N.E.
