Police investigating “suspicious death” after body found on SE Lancaster Drive

Police say they are investigating the suspicious death of a person found Friday morning in a southeast Salem lot.

Officers found the body around 10 a.m. Friday in a vacant lot in the 3000 block of Southeast Lancaster Drive today, the Salem Police Department said in a news release.

The statement provided no details about the person or their death.

Police said an autopsy by the Oregon State Medical Examiner that would determine the person’s cause of death is still pending.

“In the meantime, detectives are working to determine the identity of the individual and treating the investigation as a suspicious death. No other information is available for release,” according to the statement.
