Salem man killed in motorcycle crash near Silverton, police say

A Salem motorcyclist was killed Wednesday night after a pickup truck turned in front of him on Highway 214 southeast of Silverton, the Oregon State Police announced in a Friday news release.

Police responded to the crash at 9:07 p.m. on the highway near milepost 37 in Marion County.

Investigators determined that Anikita Barsukoff, 49 of Silverton, was driving a Red Toyota Tundra that was pulling a loaded dump trailer southbound on the highway and started to make a left turn into a driveway.

Jeremy Paul Flentge, 52 of Salem, was driving a Yamaha motorcycle northbound on the highway when he collided with the pickup near its rear passenger side tire as the driver was turning into the driveway, according to the police statement.

Flentge was declared dead at the scene.

The road was impacted for around four hours during the on-scene collision investigation, which police said remains ongoing.

The Silverton Fire District, Woodburn Ambulance, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Medical Examiner’s Office and Oregon Department of Transportation assisted with the investigation.

This story was updated to clarify that the driver turned in front of the motorcyclist just before the collision, according to the police statement.
