Police seeking tips in 2019 shooting at Pine Street Pub in case that has gone cold

Salem police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying the shooter who killed a woman at a bar over three years ago after pursuing all leads to no avail.
The Salem Police Department said in a news release Thursday that detectives had exhausted all leads after spending hundreds of hours investigating the deadly shooting.
Officers responded to a report of two people shot outside outside the Pine Street Pub, at 460 Pine St. N.E., around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 18., 2019 and found a man and woman with gunshot wounds, according to the statement. Both were taken to Salem Hospital.
Jennifer Black, 40 of Salem, died. The other victim, a 37-year-old man, survived a gunshot wound.

Detectives learned that two men approached three people outside the bar before one of the men opened fire, the police statement said. The department originally reported that only two people were shot, but detectives eventually learned that another man, the third person outside the bar, was also shot.
Several patrons of the bar told the bartender that the shooter was involved in some sort of altercation at the bar earlier in the night. He then left on his bike before returning and shooting the victims, the bartender told Salem Reporter at the time.
The shooter and the other man who approached the group with him have not been located.
“At this time, the companion is not a suspect, and detectives are seeking a statement from this individual,” the department said in its statement.
The agency said detectives are now turning to the public, as they believe there could be witnesses who may have seen the shooter or could know the identities of the two men.
“We may have missed speaking with someone who was at the location that night as there were many people at scene,” said acting Lt. Garon Boyce of the investigations division, in the statement. “Understandably, some patrons left immediately, but it is important we speak with everyone.”
Salem police, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is offering a reward of up to $2,500 cash to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest in the shooting.
People can provide information about about the identity of the shooter or the man who accompanied him through Crime Stoppers or by calling the Salem Police Tips Line, 503-588-8477.
