Stay off the road through early Monday morning, sheriff’s office says

Salem-area residents should avoid driving into early Monday morning due to icy roads, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement Sunday night that deputies had covered 11 crashes reported since midnight, some resulting in serious injury.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a low near 32 Sunday night with patchy fog until around 7 a.m. Monday.

“We have seen and are going to continue to see for several days to come extremely cold temperatures down around freezing, which is going to make conditions dangerous and unpredictable throughout Marion County roadways,” the sheriff’s office said its statement.
