Suspect charged in Dec. 1 central Salem shooting

Salem police arrested a suspect Thursday in a Dec. 1 shooting that left a woman severely injured.

Salem Police arrested Isaiah Randall Counts, 35, in Portland late Thursday night, Dec. 8, according to a department statement Friday afternoon. 

Police officers first received a report of a person with a gunshot wound near the intersection of Northeast Water and South streets, at 7:30 a.m. last Thursday, Dec. 1.

Upon arrival, they found a woman with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, 24, is still in the hospital as of Friday according to police.

Counts has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon, and domestic violence related charges of attempted murder in the second degree and assault in the first degree, according to the department.

He was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail, and will be transferred to Marion County for arraignment and prosecution.
