No arrests, citations in fatal crash Tuesday afternoon, police say

Police say a Salem woman was killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon after another driver struck her car head-on in east Salem between Geer Park and Interstate 5.

At 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a crash between two cars at the intersection of State Street and Northeast Hawthorne Avenue. The caller said the crash killed one driver, the Salem Police Department wrote in a statement Tuesday night.

Police determined the driver of a Chevrolet Camaro was headed west on State Street when he crashed into a Ford Fiesta driven by Nancy Satalich, 67, of Salem.

Satalich was turning north onto Hawthorne Avenue from State Street when the driver of the Camaro, 20-year-old Emorej Lynk of Salem, struck her car head-on, according to the statement.

The two cars came to a stop near the northwest corner of the intersection.

Satalich died at the scene. Lynk is cooperating with the pending police investigation of the crash, Salem police said in the statement.

Police said they had made no arrests and issued no citations, adding that the department had no additional information about the crash to release.

Hawthorne Avenue and part of State Street were closed for nearly five hours following the crash.

This story was updated after the Salem Police Department clarified it had misspelled Satalichs first name in its original statement.
