SALEM HISTORY: The legendary scones of the Oregon State Fair

By 1955, the Fisher Flouring Mills Scone booth at the Oregon State Fair had become an institution. These images show the booth in action churning out scones.

The McEwan Photo Shop was commissioned by a Seattle-based advertising firm to capture these shots. Hard to tell in the black and white photo, newspaper descriptions of the booth call it “Done in bright red and white the booth has stainless steel equipment and a rotary oven for baking the scones.”
