Teen accused of wounding two in northeast Salem shooting

A teen boy shot and injured two people at a northeast Salem apartment complex early Monday, Salem police said.

Just after 12 a.m. Monday, Salem Police Department officers responded to the 3300 block of Northeast D Street, according to a Monday evening news release.

Officers arrived to find a 24-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl with gunshot wounds. Both were treated by paramedics at the scene and transported to Salem Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Salem detectives arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the shooting.

Witnesses provided descriptions of two teen suspects, and officers found two male “juveniles” nearby who matched the descriptions, the release said.

Detectives arrested one of the detained boys and booked him into the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault and unlawful use of a weapon, according to the statement.

The department said in the release that it does not release the names of minors involved in criminal investigations. Juvenile court records are generally confidential under state law.
