Riverfront Park’s latest attraction got a little brighter Tuesday night.

The Gerry Frank | Salem Rotary Amphitheater was lit for the first time following an unveiling ceremony Friday attended by hundreds of Salem dignitaries.

“The lighting was put through its paces last night at the amphitheater, but it will be lit nightly from sunset to sunrise going forward,” said Barry Nelson, co-chair of the project for the Rotary Club of Salem, in a text message Wednesday.

Nelson said some minor work remains on the project, including allowing the grass to grow, but it should be ready to host events starting in October.
