Three centuries have passed since the Sanderson sisters were executed for practicing dark witchcraft and this Wednesday they’ll return to life during the screening of Hocus Pocus at Capitol City Theater. Halloween
Walk the historic Fairmount Park neighborhood in costume this Thursday for the annual Halloween parade in Fairmount City Park. Organizers say hundreds are expected to attend. The parade starts at 5 p.m. on 650 Rural Ave. S.
Divine your future through a psychic reading. Watch fire dancing in the alley. That is what’s in store for visitors to the Dark Arts Weekend at 1859 Cider Co. The cidery is releasing an imperial pumpkin cider for the three-day event and offering prizes for Halloween costumes Thursday night. Alley between Chemeketa St. N.E. and Court St. N.E. Part theater, part concert and part costume contest, The Resurrection: The Three Kings brings iconic musicians to life on stage at the Salem Convention Center for a night of dancing. Tickets cost $20 with service fee and can be purchased online or at Taproot Café and Lounge. Doors open at 7 p.m. 200 Commercial St. S.E.
Coin Jam is having a costume contest with prizes for the best man, woman, group and couple. The deadline to submit your costume is 9:45 p.m. 439 Court St. N.E. More info is on Facebook.

Three local high schools are hosting trick-or-treating events.
At South Salem, the annual Neighborhood Trick or Treat Party runs from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the first floor of South Salem High School for an annual canned food drive. If your student would like to participate, see Mrs. August in the Leadership Office to sign up for a door. Admission is free however; we will be accepting canned food donations at the door.
McKay High School will host two Halloween events back-to-back Thursday. At 5:30 p.m., elementary school students can trick-or-treat for the annual McHalloween festival, From 7-9 p.m., the school is running a haunted house in the commons.
North Salem has a Safe Halloween event from 5-6:30 p.m.

Friday
Before pianist Stephen Hough performs Mendelssohn’s glittering Piano Concerto, there will be a pre-concert talk in the Cone Chapel at Willamette University from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sprague High School’s orchestra group, Camerata, will perform a piece featuring associate concert master Peter Frajola from the Oregon Symphony as the soloist.
The pre-concert talk is free. Tickets for the concerto start at $35.
Sunday
The Salem Pops Orchestra is opening its season with “Saluting our Veterans” this Sunday. The orchestra will open with the “Star Spangled Banner” and close with “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”
The concert starts at 3 p.m. in Chemeketa Community College’s Building 6 auditorium. Tickets are $15 General Admission, $5 for Students and $2 for children under 6.
