CHECK OUT: A new (to you) book, jousting and LOTS of art

Need a good read? The YMCA is hosting its annual used book sale this weekend.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. 685 Court St. N.E.

Saturday

Transport back to the time when Queen Elizabeth ruled the land and knights battled for honor and glory. The Canterbury Renaissance Faire is in town the next two weekends.

Enjoy juggling, jousting and blacksmithing on Saturday and Sunday. Adult tickets cost $15. Children and seniors cost $12. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. 6965 Valley View Rd. N.E. Silverton

Jousting takes place at noon and 4 p.m. More info can be found on the event’s website.

Rev up your hot rods. Rust-O-Rama heads to the Oregon State Fairgrounds Saturday.

The event is put on by local car club the Cherry City Bombers and aims to celebrate cars made before 1965 and motorcycles from 1979 and older.

There’s a car show, swap meet and pinup contest. Admission costs $5 and $20 for cars. Motorcycles are also $5. The event opens at 9 a.m. at 2330 17th St. N.E. More info can be found on the bombers’ website

Now in its 70th year, the Salem Art Fair is hosting more than 200 artists in Bush Pasture Park this weekend. Peruse ceramic bowls, pine needle baskets and wooden cutting boards during the three-day event. The band Con Brio will headline the event on Friday at 7:30 and Too Slim and The Taildraggers headline on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $5 or $10 for a three-day pass. Admission is free for kids 16 and under and for Oregon Trail Card holders. The event, at 600 Mission St. S.E, runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. More info can be found on the Salem Art Association’s website.

Head to Vagabond Brewing to support Born Again Pit Bull Rescue. Half of the money from $8 limited edition glasses sold at the Pints for Pits event will support the organization.

The event runs from noon until midnight, or until glasses run out. Representatives of the rescue will be at the brewery from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. raffling off prizes for dogs and humans. 2195 Hyacinth St. N.E. More info can be found on Facebook.

Sunday

Head to Shotski’s for an all-ages drag show Sunday afternoon. The show starts at 3 p.m. and runs until 6 p.m.
