TO DO: Take in some tunes, see a parade, watch a soccer match

Don’t let your mama tell you not to come to the Elsinore Theatre Friday to see Three Dog Night perform. The band has been singing hits like “One” and “Shambala” to audiences for nearly 50 years.

Music will fill Salem’s streets Friday during Make Music Day Salem. Musicians will play outside at numerous locations around the city during the summer solstice. Make Music Day originated in France in the 1980’s and asked musicians to get out in the streets to play their music on June 21.

The music takes place all day and is mostly concentrated in the downtown area. Specific times and places can be found on the event’s website.

Want to get a peek inside someone else’s house? Head to Pringle Creek Community’s annual Green Tour of Homes Saturday. The fully-sustainable residential development will show off its homes, gardens and community spaces from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 3911 Village Center Dr. S.E. Feed your mind Saturday with the Oregon Psilocybin Society. The group will discuss Oregon’s 2020 ballot initiative to legalize hallucinogenic mushrooms and screen the documentary “A new understanding: the science of psilocybin” at Salem’s Historic Grand at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $14 plus online fees. The theater is located at 187 High St. N.E. More info can be found on the Historic Grand’s website.

Colorful clothes, music and dancing will fill the streets during Sikh Day Parade this weekend. The annual event commemorates Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji Sahib’s Martyrdom Day. There will be traditional Indian food served during a free lunch in Gilmore Field City Park.

The parade runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dashmesh Darbar Sikh Temple on 860 Oakhill Ave. S.E. For more info call 503-391-7031.

Sunday

Watch the Portland Timbers U-23 team, the Timbers’ youth development program, play soccer against the TSS FC Rovers at McCulloch Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Kickoff is at 2 p.m. at 890 Mission St. S.E. Tickets cost $9 for adults and $5 for children aged 4 – 12. Kids three and under are free. More info can be found at the Portland Timbers U23 website or by calling 503-673-6708.
