TO DO: Solve a crime, watch a dance, get a laugh

Friday

A new exhibit at the Willamette Heritage Center will showcase crime fighting history in the state’s capital and explain how methods for solving crimes have changed over time. Featuring historical mugshots, photos and artifacts, CSI Salem opens Friday and will run through Aug. 31.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Tickets cost $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students, $4 for youth and free for children 5 and younger.

Saturday

Vegans rejoice. Cherry City VegFest is bringing vegan and plant-based foods to the Pringle Park Community Hall this Saturday. There will be cooking demos, food vendors, speakers and nonprofits in the park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission is free. The event will be located on 606 Church St. S.E. More info can be found at cherrycityvegfest.org.

American Ballet Academy dancers will hit the stage Saturday and Sunday at the Elsinore Theater to perform “Alice in Wonderland.”

Profits will be donated to Marion County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates for Youth, a group that helps local foster children.

On Saturday, doors open at 6 p.m. and the performance begins at 7 p.m.

On Sunday, doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $14 online plus fees. The Elsinore Theater is located at 170 High Street S.E.
