Saalfeld Griggs, PC is a well-known law firm in town. Founded in 1932, it was established by Roy Harland and is one of Salem’s biggest law firms with more than 20 attorneys. An impressive 11 of those are women. They held their 10th Annual “Celebrating Women in Business” event for clients and friends on Sept. 26 at the beautiful Deepwood Estates.

Ladies socialized under a large tent at the estate. Former Mayor Anna Peterson attended, as well as women from all professional fields, including Danae Johnson from Capital Financial Planners, Desirea Yee-Klampe of Berkshire Hathaway and Randi Bural from Northwest Farm Credit Services.

Saalfeld Griggs Partners’ Christine Moehl and Shannon Martinez gave the opening introduction about the women in the firm and the event’s history. They introduced their new marketing director Courtney Bloedorn.

The keynote speaker was Shari Dunn, Executive Director of Dress for Success Oregon. More than just professional attire anymore, “Dress” offers job seeking, preparation and retention skills and financial support to obtain and keep a job. Dunn expressed concerns that there were two million women missing from the workforce post-recession. She acknowledged that women’s employment needs are different from men often because of the need to care for their children. She reminded the guests that it’s “hard to be what you cannot see” so Dress gives them that vision.

At the end of the event, firm partners, Jennifer Paul; Martinez and Moehl toasted to the event’s 10 year anniversary and cut and served a gorgeous layer cake.

Dress for Success Oregon helps women achieve economic independence by providing a network of support and professional attire. There is a new location located in the Salem Center Mall.
