CHECK OUT: A wedding show, youth farm or color run

Are you planning a wedding or special event? Willamette Valley Heritage Center is hosting a Wedding & Event Show to feature venues, photographers, DJs and event planners for the special day. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets cost $5 and can be purchased online. Willamette Valley Heritage members get in free. 1313 Mill St. S.E.

On Saturday, thousands of people will join the Out of the Darkness walk around the Oregon State Capitol to raise awareness about suicide and bring hope to those affected by it.

The walk is free but serves as a fundraiser for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss. Individuals who raise $150 and more will get a t-shirt at the walk.

Check in starts at 9 a.m. The opening ceremony starts at 10:30 and the walk ends at noon. 900 Court St. N.E. More info is on the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention website.

Spend a Saturday morning exploring the Marion Polk Food Share Youth Farm, a 6-acre urban farm that engages young people in gardening. Young farmers will be on hand to help guide guests from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Visitors will have a chance to pick fresh tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, green beans, radishes. Oregon State University’s Master Food Preservers will be on site to offer pickling and preserving demonstrations and Caesar the No Drama Llama will be there giving away free hugs. 4320 Winema Place N.E. Get some exercise and have some fun doing it this weekend during The Color Run. Runners wear white and are doused with different colors every kilometer during the 5k. After the run, rainbow-colored runners can celebrate with a party complete with dancing, activity booths and more color throws. The race starts at 8 a.m. at the Oregon State Fairgrounds. 2310 17th St. N.E. More info is on The Color Run’s website.

Archive Coffee & Bar is encouraging its patrons to explore a galaxy far, far away in Jedi robes and Princess-Leia buns Saturday during an all-day Star Wars party. The event runs from 9 a.m. to midnight, with minors encouraged to attend before 4 p.m. for kid-friendly drinks and treats. From 4 p.m. to midnight the bar is serving Star Wars-themed alcoholic drinks and food. After 8 p.m., there’s a $5 cover charge. More info is on Facebook.
