Good evening, Salem!

The event is not in Salem, but the outcome will have a lot to do with what happens in our town next year.

The three major candidates for governor meet in Bend this evening for a debate that will be carried live. Republican Christine Drazan, Democrat Tina Kotek and Betsy Johnson, running as a nonpartisan candidate, make their case in a debate that begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday. One of them will be getting the keys to Mahonia Hall and by all indications, the race is close.
