Commercial flights out of Salem’s airport are nearly at an end.
Avelo Airlines on Monday canceled all West Coast service. The airline will wrap up operations in Salem in August and shutter its Burbank base entirely in December.
Airline officials said Monday the decision is unrelated to protests in Salem and elsewhere over its decision to aid in deportations for the U.S. government. We’ve got more on the decision below – and we’ll keep pursuing some questions, including what this means for city airport jobs and operations.
