Your Friday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.

The weekend weather is going to be variable. with the National Weather Service forecasting a high of 45 for Saturday and rain likely by the afternoon. Cold Canadian air is forecast to move in later Saturday, with snow levels dropping to 200 feet.

“Precipitation and cold air will overlap enough to produce at least a dusting of snow across the lowest elevations Saturday evening,” according to the latest forecast.

That cold air sets up a chance of waking up to slippery roads on Sunday. “Any water on surfaces Saturday evening should freeze rather quickly Saturday night and will not thaw out until at least Sunday,” the forecast says.

So, be careful out there and the Salem Reporter team will keep you posted if any serious weather challenges develop.
