Good evening….

The clock is running down to file to run for local office. The filing deadline to become a candidate for a school board, fire board or other agency is 5 p.m. Thursday, March 16.

You can find out what it takes to get into the political pool by checking the Marion County Clerk’s Office website. The site also tells you what seats are up for the May 16 election.

Seats are open on the Salem-Keizer School Board, the Chemeketa Community College Board and others. Out in rural Marion County, the Silver Falls School District Board race has drawn in one notable candidate – Derrick Foxworth Jr. He was Portland police chief from 2003 to 2006.
