Good evening, Salem.

The university is moving into a new Graduate & Professional Center in Portland’s Pearl District. The center is in the Ecotrust building at 721 N.W. 9th Ave. University officials plan a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26.

According to Willamette officials, the center will be home to classes for those working on master’s degrees in business administration, data science or computer science. About 85 students are expected this fall, according to the university.

The university’s College of Law will expand its immigration clinic at the Portland site and launch its immigrant justice scholars program.

“The program includes an immigration-specific curriculum, experiential learning opportunities, and a final immersive semester of clinic work in Portland,” the university said in announcing the new offering earlier this year.

The university’s Pacific Northwest College of Art is about two blocks from the new center. That college has about 500 students.

Willamette was founded in Salem in 1842 and started Portland operations in 2004.
