Your Monday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
Physician assistant Tommy Vu did 1,721 chest-to-ground push ups in an hour, breaking the previous world record of 1,530 push ups, the Oregon National Guard said in a press release. Vu completed the feat at West Coast Strength gym Saturday, alongside his family and peers.
Vu dedicated his achievement to his family member’s recently passed away dog and will donate $1 for every push up he did to the Oregon Humane Society.
“We lost our chow chow, who was 12 years old. He lived a great life, but it was still a really cool dog,” Vu said in the press release. “So I thought, hey, let’s dedicate something in memory for Leonardo. Whenever I do these, I always find a charitable cause.”
This was Vu’s sixth world record and he already has his eyes on a seventh in the record for burpees, the press release said.
