Good evening, Salem.

The Chabad Center for Jewish Life has invited the Salem community to a prayer vigil and Israel solidarity event in the wake of the Israel-Palestinian war. The conflict has claimed at least 1,900 lives on both sides as of Tuesday afternoon, according to AP News, following following Hamas’ attack on Israel on Oct. 7.

The Salem vigil will be a place to pray for the victims and learn ways to help Israel, according to a statement from Rabbi Avrohom Perlstein.

“We are all left in shock and heartbroken from the news and images coming from the holy land. What can we do to help? The Jewish response is to mobilize spiritually as well as physically with a strengthened faith in G-d,” he said in the statement.

The vigil starts at 6:30 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the Chabad Center for Jewish Life, 1370 Crowley Ave. S.E.
