A stormwater crew was clearing a ditch near Southeast Gladmar Street when they hit a 4-inch gas line.

“Northwest Natural is on scene and the gas leak is no longer an issue. Traffic may be impacted as utility crews work to repair the issue,” city public works spokesman Trevor Smith said Friday afternoon.

Monday is Indigenous Peoples Day, a state holiday, though state offices will remain open and state workers on the job. Many banks and credit unions will be closed. The city of Salem’s offices will be open.

There’s a celebration of Indigenous Peoples Day Monday from 1-6 p.m. at the Gerry Frank Amphitheater in Riverfront Park. For more on that, see our preview below.
