The state got approval to issue $43 million more in food benefits to families who received food stamps anytime between Sept. 1, 2022 and May 11, 2023, and had children 5 or younger during that time. The money will go toward families of 99,000 young Oregon children.

Families will get an extra $67 per child under 5 per month between September 2022 and April 2023 where they received food benefits, and $30 for May 2023. A family who received benefits during the entire period will see an extra $566.

Families who still receive food stamps will see the money loaded automatically onto their card. Families who no longer receive benefits will have a new card mailed to them, the department said.

People with questions about their benefits can call the state’s pandemic EBT hotline at (844) 673-7328.
