Friday is an observed holiday for Veterans Day, so expect government offices and courts to be closed. The Salem Public Library is open Friday but closed Saturday for the holiday.

Three Salem high schools have fall musicals on stage this weekend, with shows tonight through Saturday.

McKay’s production of the Shakespeare classic “Romeo and Juliet” opens this evening.

At West Salem High School, students are staging the musical “The Lightning Thief,” based on the hit Percy Jackson book blending Greek mythology with contemporary adventure.

And North Salem’s production of “Chicago” closes this weekend.
