Your Friday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
The lights are a fluctuating wave of plasma that can be stronger in some areas and weaker in others, said David Bishop, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland. This weekend offers the best opportunity to see them in Oregon in at least a decade, however, and further north means better odds.
Regardless of the lights, Salem is in for a sunny weekend with plenty to do. We’re including below our story on this weekend’s Tianguis de Salem, a free festival in Riverfront Park on Saturday highlighting Mexican and Mesoamerican culture. It’ll run from 2-6 p.m.
