Your Thursday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.

Another day went by at the Oregon Capitol without resolution as a walkout by Senate Republicans and one Independent has gone on for over a month.

Talks among leaders are ongoing, but meantime bills with bipartisan support that could impact services for abused children, addiction treatment, nursing education and more issues affecting Salemites remain stalled. Absent a resolution to the session, these policy proposals are likely to die.

In the coming days, we’ll bring you reporting on what’s at stake for Salem if legislators can’t reach an agreement to salvage the session and convince Republicans to return. If there’s an issue you’d like us to explore or a question you want answered, reach out to Managing Editor Rachel Alexander at [email protected].
