Good evening, Salem.

We normally confine our traffic updates to the Salem area, but this weekend will bring major disruption to Interstate 5 for anyone traveling near or through Portland.

Western University of Health Sciences Lebanon Oregon

All lanes of traffic will be closed in both directions for four miles in southwest Portland, beginning 9 p.m. Friday, June 28, until 5 a.m. Monday, July 1. Detours will be in place on I-205 and OR 217/U.S. 26. The closure covers the section of freeway between Terwilliger and the Capitol Highway, mileposts 297 to 294.

The closure is part of a bridge replacement project for the overpass over 26th Avenue. On-ramps will also be closed.

Northbound on-ramp closures:

  • Southwest Kruse Way.
  • Southwest Haines Street.
  • Southwest Capitol Highway.
  • Southwest Spring Garden Street.
  • OR 99W/Barbur Boulevard.

Southbound on-ramp closures:

  • I-405 on-ramp.
  • South Harbor Drive on-ramp.
