Your Tuesday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.

One of Salem’s best kept secrets kicks off tonight – Theatre 33’s summer play season.

The annual festival stages pared-down productions and readings of brand new plays from Pacific Northwest playwrights. Want to see a haunting musical mystery set in Astoria? How about comedy-drama about caring for an aging parent with dementia?

Those productions and more are on tap. Most shows are on the Willamette University campus, though some readings are at other locations around town.

Hailey Cook previewed this season for us earlier in the summer – read her summary here.

Tickets are donation-based, and you can browse the schedule or reserve them online here.
