Your Friday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
The event is drawing 59 teams from across the west, including five from Oregon, according to a news release from the city.
Teams will check in at Wallace Marine Park on Sunday and can participate in skill games for hitting, home runs and throwing. Opening ceremonies will be held Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Gerry Frank Amphitheater in Riverfront Park.
Tournament play begins Monday morning and runs through Sunday, Aug. 3, with the final game scheduled at 8 p.m.
About 4,000 fans and relatives are expected to come to Salem for the event, with an economic impact of about $7 million, the city said. More information about the tournament and a schedule is available on the city website.
