Good evening, Salem.

Watch out for a long-lasting road closure in south Salem starting Monday.

A section of Southeast Wiltsey Road, starting at Southeast Battle Creek Road, will close Monday for the construction of a roundabout and a new overpass crossing Interstate 5. The construction is part of the Oregon Department of Transportation’s project to widen I-5.

The road closure will last up to nine months, ODOT said in a Facebook post, as workers bring in materials to reconstruct the intersection and new roundabout. Battle Creek Road will stay open during the construction and drivers can detour around the closure by taking Southeast 36th Avenue to Kuebler Boulevard.
