Your Friday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
Ironman returns on Sunday, and with it comes street closures and lane reductions near Riverfront Park and south of downtown.
The largest impact is on South River Road, which is used for the bike course. People traveling between Independence and Salem should use alternate routes, the city said.

The race begins at Minto-Brown Island Park at 6:15 a.m. and ends at Riverfront Park. Both parks will remain open to the public Sunday, but portions will be closed to accommodate the race, and parking will be tight.
The taco bridge will close Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
