Your Wednesday evening update on Salem news

Good evening, Salem.
Gov. Tina Kotek has ordered flags across the state flown at half-staff in honor of former Senate President Peter Courtney, who died Tuesday of complications from cancer.
Courtney, who represented Salem in the state Legislature for nearly 40 years, played a pivotal role in the rebuilding of Salem’s YMCA and many other projects around the city.
The order lasts through sunset on Thursday.
In city news, fire officials at noon lifted an outdoor burn ban for the city of Salem following a period of high-risk fire weather. Temperatures are expected to remain hot through the weekend, with highs in the high 80s and low to mid 90s.
