Good evening, Salem.
On Wednesday night, a majority of the city’s budget committee voted in support of setting aside $400,000 for struggling community members, including those impacted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in Salem.
The motion also would reestablish the city’s social services advisory board which would oversee the funds.
The city council is now expected to consider the matter at the “earliest possible opportunity,” according to Salem City Councilor Vanessa Nordyke, who brought the motion that was ultimately adopted.
